The Autumn Hills Recycling and Disposal Facility is located in Zeeland Township, Ottawa County, Michigan and is owned by Waste Management, the leading provider of comprehensive environmental services in North America. Autumn Hills was developed as a "greenfield" new site in 1992 for management of solid waste needs of residents and businesses in western Michigan.
Autumn Hills is more than just a landfill, it’s a community resource and benefit to Zeeland Township and Western Michigan — Autumn Hills is a local employer, a recycler, a community partner, and a leader in green energy.
Each day, decomposing waste in landfills creates thousands of cubic feet of landfill gas, which is captured and utilized as a green energy source – an alternative to fossil fuels.
Waste Management has invested millions of dollars to develop Autumn Hills as a modern landfill with a state-of-the-art landfill gas collection and delivery system. This investment has allowed Autumn Hills to partner with a local soy bean processor and the City of Zeeland to harness the green energy potential of solid waste and help power the local economy.
